I'm motivated to serve on the MVWSD Board of Trustees because I am concerned about the widening gaps in achievement and sense of wellbeing among our diverse student population. We must find creative ways to address both the social development and the academic development of our children as we continue to see long-term ripple effects from the COVID years. Our approach to tackling these issues must take into account and value the diversity of our community and the variety of perspectives of our families.

Within my own family, I have seen the impact that the right kinds of interventions can have when a student is struggling, and I have seen the importance of giving a student who has fallen behind the opportunity and resources needed to fill in gaps and then to allow that student the freedom to grow to reach their potential, rather than locking them into a set path.

I have been an actively involved parent in my neighborhood schools in the Mountain View Whisman School District for more than ten years, serving as a classroom volunteer and as a parent leader in the community as a PTA board member and as a member of district-level focus groups and task forces. I have also been a longtime advocate for student safety and wellness.

I welcome your questions and would like to hear about what you value about our local schools and where you have concerns.
